How do I mount my Mantle to a flat wall?

On an unfinished wall...

If your wall is not finished yet, the Mantle can be bolted from the back, using long Lag bolts, directly through the wall. If you need to it extend further from the wall for any reason (Masonry, etc), add a 2 x 4 lengthwise to the back of your Mantle.

On a finished wall, as simple as hanging a picture...

Materials, Noose Hangers (Included at no charge), wood screws, Lag bolts.

*Determine height of mantle. Leave at least 20" from top of fireplace doors or firebox opening, check with local building codes if necessary.

*Determine location of studs in wall, drill and install Lag bolts, so that the heads are extended just slightly from the wall.

*Install Noose hangers to the back of your Mantle, closer to the upper edge, (remember to drill a hole first to accommodate the Lag bolt head). For a more flush fit, route and inset your Noose hanger so it is flush with the back of the mantle.

*Hang it up.

How do I mount my mantle to a Masonry Fireplace?

*Determine location of the flue for fireplace... Do not drill holes within 12 inches of either side.
*Determine height of mantle. Leave at least 20" from top of fireplace doors or firebox opening, check with local building codes if necessary.
*Drill two holes in fireplace with masonry bit 3/4", approximately 4" deep.
*Put high temperature silicone or epoxy into the holes and place 10" x 3/4" rebar  into holes.
*Place mantle at desired level, mark holes in flat side, and drill with 3/4" wood bit. Push mantle onto bolts with high temperature silicone or epoxy in each hole.

How do I mount my Mantle to a cultured stone fireplace, wood framed?

Materials: 2 x 4 Lumber, 2 to 3 metal plates (flat stock) 1 to 2 inches wide, wood screws.
Mount a 2x4 12 inches shorter than the mantle, to the back of the mantle. From the hardware store, purchase two or three metal plates (approx. 1/8" x 1" or 2" x 8" to 12" as needed) and 3" wood screws. Mount the plates vertically to the horizontal 2x4, spaced to fit the studs in the wall. Place mantle at the desired height and screw to wall. Place cultured stone around the mantle.
